EF 1A: Common Verb Phrases: Job / Studies

If you want to talk about your job or studies, you can use these simple phrases:

  • What do you do?: Ask about someone’s job or if they are a student.
  • Where do you work or study?: Ask for the name of their workplace or school.
  • What school or university do you go to?: Ask about the place they study.
  • What year are you in?: Ask about their level at school or university.
  • Can you speak other languages? Which ones?: Talk about the languages someone knows.
  • Where did you learn English?: Ask where someone studied English.

These questions are easy to use when you talk about work or school.
